Research Funding and Project Transparency

At Instituto de Genetica Barbara McClintock - IGBM, we are committed to advancing scientific knowledge through transparent and accountable research support. As part of our institutional mission in education, scientific research, and innovation, IGBM allocates resources annually to support investigator-led research projects across the biological and biomedical sciences.

Our funding model includes:

• Internal Institutional Research Funding (IRF): resources allocated directly by IGBM to support priority research initiatives.

• Founder-Designated Research Support (FRS): institutional funds designated by the founder and administered through IGBM’s internal research funding framework.

• External Grants and Donations (EGD): funding provided by partner organizations, philanthropic donors, and external collaborators.

• Non-funded / Independent Research: projects conducted without dedicated financial support, driven by academic or scientific interest.

All funded projects receive an internal award code to ensure transparency, traceability, and responsible allocation of research resources. Where applicable, projects may also receive external academic registration and approval codes from partner institutions such as Universidad Científica del Sur (UCSUR), reflecting formal academic endorsement.
