"The Impact of Japanese Audiovisual Narratives on the Public Communication of Science in Hispanic America: A Critical Analysis"
Below is some of the research material. We took all necessary measures to safeguard participants’ identities, fully complying with recognized ethical standards for internet research.
Observation of JANs user forums
We examined previous forum posts to determine whether the connection between JANs and science had been previously discussed in Latin America, but no relevant results were found. The methodology used is detailed in the attached PDF, and this section was subsequently excluded from the final manuscript.
Validation on the instrument for thematic content analysis
A cover letter and an evaluation form were prepared for expert reviewers to assess the dimensions used to evaluate the posts. The instrument, adapted from Taddicken et al. (2024), is presented below along with the materials sent to the expert panel (a psycologist, a science teacher and a sociologist). All are in spanish because jury and the instrument also were in spanish. Aiken’s V test is presented on the last page.
Responses for participant observation
The participant observation comments are presented in Appendix 1. This Excel file containing the original Spanish comments and their analysis is available in the Raw Data Analysis tab. Screenshots of the comments were also taken, ensuring participant usernames remain hidden, along with the screenshot showing the researcher’s introduction to the group administrators (Click to enlarge).
